League Rules

Every tennis match is a new opportunity to prove yourself.

Tennis is mostly mental. Of course, you must have a lot of physical skill, but you can’t play tennis well and not be a good thinker. You win or lose the match before you even go out there.

Match Schedule:

League schedules can be found on www.matchtime.com or on the iPhone App / Android. Please refer to your registration confirmation email for Match Schedule post date. We will also send an email to all players alerting them when schedules are live.

Contact Information:

Player contact information can be found on www.matchtime.com or on the iPhone App / Android. Please refer to your registration confirmation email for Match Schedule post date. At that time you will be able to see your opponents names & contact information. Contact your opponents as soon as possible and schedule your matches well in advance. Summer is a busy season of travel & fun times. It is a proven record that those who pencil in all matches at the beginning of the season have the highest completion rate.

Remember, matches can be played during any week of the session. You can even play all matches in the first week if you’d like! Can we say Superwoman?!

Points:

During the inaugural season we will be using a simple points system. Each game won = 1 point. This simple points system will help us determine if we should consider adjusting your level of play.

Scoring Format:

All matches must be best 2/3 full sets with a ten-point tiebreaker for the third set. This will prevent from having miscommunication and keep your match times within a reasonable time frame. We all have things to do!

Tennis Balls:

Home court player shall provide a brand-new can of tennis balls. But best practice is for each player to bring a can of tennis balls. This way you have a back-up if the home court player forgot to bring balls! As for the type of balls, bring balls according to the court surface. Do they have to be pink? Nah, but it sure would be fun!

Reporting Match Scores:

When your match is complete, either player can post the score on www.matchtime.com or using the iPhone App / Android .

Confirming Match Scores:

Players have 48 hours to confirm or edit the score once posted. If no action is taken, the match will be automatically confirmed at the end of 48 hour time period.

Match Times & Locations:

Players are responsible for scheduling their own match times with their opponent at a mutually agreed-upon court location. We do specify home vs. away courts in order to help you get an idea where your opponent is located. Always be considered of other players and time of the day playing. If you are going to have an evening match, always pick a court with lights. The only way the league works is if both players are flexible with times and locations!

Cancelations:

If you need to cancel a match, please try and reschedule for a different week. If it cannot be played during a different week, please send your opponent an email and copy hertennistribe@outlook.com. We will alert sub players/players on waitlist that there is an opportunity to sub, or you may find a sub on your own.
